Christmas Songs VI on the Purple Stuff Podcast!

It’s astounding how quickly this year has flew by. That’s both good and bad because who wants this crappy year to drag on any longer than it has to, but at the same time, where the hell does time go? We’re already approaching 2021 and that blows my mind. For now though, it’s time for our annual Yuletide celebration on The Purple Stuff Podcast! Hopefully, a moose mug of egg nog and this episode will help you travel to that marshmallow world where all the BS of life vanishes for an hour.

We have arrived at our 6th installment of our annual Christmas Songs show! These are some of the most fun episodes for us and we hope you enjoy this one as much as you have in the past. Both Matt from DinoDrac and I love having Christmas songs on during the holidays and we compile songs that we think should have the spotlight each year. In our new installment, we’ve got quite an array of tunes including The Power Rangers and Kurt Russell! You read that correctly 🙂 There’s also a couple of tracks I highly doubt you will be hearing anyone else talk about this season so stay tuned for those as well.

Enjoy the episode and let us know what you think. A huge thank you goes out to you if you are reading this and always listening to the podcast, it’s so very much appreciated. On a personal note, I truly appreciate you supporting Sludge Central as well, i.e the occassional videos, the less frequent posts, the Sammi Curr swag and other product releases here and there.  It’s beyond awesome of you! I wish you Happy Holidays and a kickass new year that is exponentially better than the current one!

The 7th edition of SPOOKY SONGS is coming at you on The Purple Stuff Podcast! It’s hard to believe that we’ve come this far, but Dinosaur Dracula and I love doing the Spooky Songs show. It’s one of our most fun episodes. In light of a really odd year, it’s nice to just cozy up into your Halloween 6 blanket with some pumpkin coffee and chill out while listening to some tunes. We’ve got 10 tracks for you that smack with spooky vibes. We’re getting into some rare territory which is very cool! Expect the unexpected here, but we’ve got you covered. You’ll here us talk about songs from horror movies, late night TV show intros, and GHOSTBUSTERS! It’s a damn good time and I’m happy we’ve arrived at it. We hope you dig this one and as always, your support is appreciated! I hope you are enjoying your Halloween season!

I feel ridiculous typing here every so often that the time flies by so fast. Whenever I actually do post, it certainly feels like we’re in light speed. Can you believe that this is the 5th installment of The Purple Stuff Podcast’s Christmas Songs show? It’s the holiday season and everyone is bracing themselves for that high level of family interaction, those often awkward gift situations, and way more food that any normal human being should be ingesting. All I can say is thank God for Tequila 🙂

Naturally, I’m half joking. I do enjoy the most wonderful time of the year, although with each year that passes, the holidays aren’t the holidays without the TUNES! To me, music makes the holidays. You’re well familiar with my love for Halloween music hence the annual Spooky Songs shows that Dinosaur Dracula and I do. Think about it though, can you really picture a wonderful December day close to the 25th where you’re in an ugly Christmas sweater sipping egg nog from a Marty Moose mug and you DON’T have imaginary eight notes and quarter notes from Christmas songs subtly dancing on air around the room?

This year we delve even deeper into our playlists. We’re presenting 10 songs that deserve some airplay on your bluetooth speaker this year. You’ll hear everything from Glow Worm Wackyness to Home Alone 2 hilarity on this episode. There’s no better week to listen to our Christmas songs show than right now!

Thank you for listening to the podcast and coming to this website. We truly appreciate your support! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family! We look forward to more fun in 2020. Also, a very special thank you to all of our PATRONIES! You guys are the absolute best! *If you are interested in supporting the show you can get a monthly bonus show at Patreon.com/PurpleStuff

Purple Stuff Podcast: 1990 Thanksgiving Parade!

It’s really unbelievable that every year it feels like the holidays just sneak up on us out of nowhere. I think it’s that we’re all so wrapped up in the daily grind that we forget what’s coming! It just hit me now that in a few short days I’ll be able to eat all kinds of pies that I wouldn’t ordinarily come within 5 feet of! Thanksgiving is the ultimate cheat day. To help you pause and take it all in, The Purple Stuff Podcast is here and is zero calories. You can even go back for seconds, guilt-free! Join us for our Thanksgiving show where Matt and I discuss some of the highlights from the 1990 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

As we have discussed on the podcast many times, these parades are a super important aspect of the holidays to us. Some consider the tree lightning in Rockefeller Center the kickoff of the holidays, but for me, Santa’s entrance in the parade signals the official start of Christmas. And let me say that 1990 might sound like a totally random choice, but it’s so not. I still feel like I’m 20 so it’s easy to forget that’s before a lot of you were born so I’m going to ask you to trust us on this one, it’s quite a memorable parade broadcast. Most of these parades usually have a few “special” moments, but this one seemed to have way more than we expected.

We had a blast recording this one and we hope you enjoy it as well. I also want to take this time for an extra jumbo sized sentiment of appreciation to you as we approach THANKSGIVING! We couldn’t do it without you. I am very grateful to those of you who come back here to read my infrequent posts, watch my annual videos, and of course listen to the podcast, it means the world to me. Enjoy Thanksgiving and try to savor all the details, like how amazing Mom’s stuffing is (let her know) and sip the Cranberry Ginger Ale SLOWLY and notice how its fine subtle yet tart tones bounce around in your mouth.

What makes the Halloween season special is ambiance. Think of it as a bubbling cauldron, to concoct your brew you have to customize your ingredients. Some people don’t fathom how into Halloween I am, but it just seems like they aren’t doing much to enhance their season. To easily stimulate the feels of the season, one must accentuate their own personal traditions.

There are those who like to burn pumpkin candles, hang orange, green and purple string lights inside, and watch a horror movie each night of October. It can be as simple or as intricate as you desire. Many of our friends, readers, and listeners come up with amazing Mood Tables inspired by Dinosaur Dracula. This originated as a table Matt made that featured items that gave him the Halloween feeling. For me, a huge part of the season for as long as I can remember is the TUNES!

Such an easy way to add to the ambiance of your Halloween celebration is to make a spooky playlist. Matt and I have been presenting ours on The Purple Stuff Podcast for several years now and it’s one of the most fun shows we do. In this episode, we’ve got a whole new playlist for you and we hope it adds to your Halloween ambiance. Check it out on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, and wherever else you listen to podcasts. If you have a moment, leave us a positive review on iTunes, it would be very much appreciated. Also, if you want to support the show you can visit us on Patreon where we’ve got an exclusive monthly bonus show for you! Thanks for reading and listening!

THE PURPLE STUFF PODCAST’S SUMMER SATURDAYS KICKS OFF!!!

The hot, blazing summer has come for all of us. Just think, if we make it out alive we are one step closer to the Halloween season! At least that’s my incentive to persevere through these hellish, humid days. Even though it’s my least favorite season, I admit that theres so much to enjoy about it. If you can deal with swamp ass and drenching back sweat then you’ll have no problem appreciating the finer things that the summer has to offer. To encapsulate it all into one tiny nostalgic trip, The Purple Stuff Podcast is very excited to bring to you SUMMER SATURDAYS! We look at this as a way for you to savor the summer while sipping Shasta cans in the yard.

What is Summer Saturdays you ask? Essentially, me and Matt will be bringing you a new podcast every Saturday throughout July focusing on some of the highlights of summer for us. We’ll be presenting a variety of different themes during this extravaganza, but first, to kick things off, we have a music show for you compiling our summer playlists. You know us by now, we intentionally try to avoid the typical fare in favor of spotlighting the slightly more obscure stuff.

Whacked out is the best way to describe the variety on this episode. From songs heard in horror films to more songs heard in horror films to a member of the Mickey Mouse Club, to The Lost Boys on the beach, to fun with Phoebe Cates it’s just bananas. Check this one out if you’re chilling by your pool, doing yard work, *PAINTING THE FENCE, or just living that sloth life on your couch in the air conditioning. It’s a fun way to kick off your summer and we’ve got a lot more in store for you this month so stay tuned!

Thank you for listening to the show! If you would like to support The Purple Stuff Podcast we greatly appreciate your help! You can spread the word to friends IRL, leave us a positive review on iTunes, share us on social media, or join in the fun on our Patreon where we present a monthly bonus show exclusively for our “Patronies.” Thanks again and we hope your summer kicks ass.

*Can you name what movie this references? That’s another hint to a movie that gets brought up in this episode thanks to the awesome summer song!

Purple Stuff Podcast: TV Themes Part 2!

In many ways, I’ve spent my life prepping for the crap that Dino Drac and I discuss on the Purple Stuff Podcast. Who knew that all those hours as a couch potato on those summer days that were too sweltering to even swim under the sun would actually prove to be useful someday. Well, useful is a stretch, but all those memories certainly fuels our Mr. Fusion of inconsequential nostalgia. For a little trip back in time to when TV sitcoms ruled our world and they were only available through that giant box in your living room, dial up our first TV Theme Songs show from May 2016!

If you don’t need the refresher, well, as Freddy said, WELCOME TO PRIME TIME BITCH! We’ve got 10 TV Themes to discuss and dissect. We don’t only talk about the music, we also get into the details of the actual intros themselves in some cases. No matter what, these are some oddball choices as always. You’ll hear everything from Harry and The Hendersons to Jem! Things are about to get weird so take a listen on your favorite podcast app. Thank you for listening and feel free to add your favorite TV Themes in the comments!

If you dig the show and would like to support the show you can share the show on social media, or recommend The Purple Stuff Podcast to one of your friend IRL! So many people I know are through with social media altogether that you may want to have an actual convo with them and say “Hey, this is a show I enjoy listening to and you may like it as well!” If you aren’t into that option, we would love it if you could give us a 5 star rating on iTunes. And last but not least, you can support us on Patreon for an exclusive monthly bonus show! www.Patreon.com/PurpleStuff Thanks again for listening and reading!

Purple Stuff Podcast: Spooky Songs 2018!

I’d be lying if I said The Purple Stuff Podcast has been on an exotic summer vacation. Truth is, we’ve been simply gearing up for the BIG season, you know, the only season that matters! That’s right, believe it or not, Halloween time is here and I’ve got shivers up and down my spine at the mere thought of it all. Haunted attractions, pumpkin spice everything (yes I am a fan), horror movies on loop, hoodies, and of course, the soundtrack to it all: SPOOKY SONGS! Dino Drac and I have teamed up once again to bring you a collection of tunes that you can slide right into your Fall and Halloween playlists. This episode is available right now from iTunes, Stitcher, and Podbean etc. Check it out and subscribe to the show if you haven’t already.

You’ll hear some absolute treasures in this episode that you may not have known even existed. There’s a metal injected TV theme song, a satirical sequel to a classic, and even a track based off an old toy line. In the end, they’re all excellent choices to incorporate into your Halloween playlist this year. We had a blast with this episode so we hope you will to! If you have any spooky musical suggestions for us, leave them below in the comments! Thanks for reading and listening!

Purple Stuff Podcast: Christmas Songs III

LISTEN HERE!

It’s that special time of the year again! The time of year where we reminisce about how hysterical it was when the shitter was full,  when people get together and wear intentionally lame sweaters, and get pretty tanked up and make poor decisions. Either way, it’s usually a blast. But what’s a holiday season without a badass soundtrack to play in the background? The new episode of the Purple Stuff Podcast continues our tradition of offering up an eclectic selection of Christmas tunes for you.

It’s our 3rd installment of holiday tunes and it’s pretty whacked out. Matt from Dinosaur Dracula and I present more favorites from our respective playlists. To me, there’s nothing better than chilling by the Christmas tree listening to the holiday classics that you only hear during this time of year. As usual, we don’t always agree on all of these tracks, but either way, they all have their place. You’ll hear everything from a Smurfs song to a snazzy. ’60s version of “Sleigh Ride.”

Hopefully we can provide you with some new ideas to add to your annual holiday celebration…or just a bunch of songs to avoid at all costs, whatever works for you! You can subscribe to The Purple Stuff Podcast on iTunes and basically anywhere else you can get podcasts. If you want to support the show and our websites, subscribe, spread the word, or leave a review on iTunes! Thanks for reading and listening!
